Local SEO, or local search engine optimization, is an approach to marketing local products and services online through targeted keyword searches on major search engines. Local Search Engine Optimization (LSEO) is very important for local businesses because they can only grow in the local economy. Local businesses are not able to compete with international companies on an international level. In the past, companies focused their efforts on national and global SEO strategies.

Organic search traffic results in a high bounce rate. This means they only get clicks when someone actually clicks on the link. A high bounce rate means less conversion than you would get from having high quality, relevant, and competitive keywords on your website. However, by using smart local SEO strategies, you can improve your ranking and get more organic traffic. Here are some tips for a successful, smart local seo campaign.

Use a Location-based listing manager. On the search console, under listings, select the “Search by URL” drop-down menu. Place the keywords you want to target in quotation marks. Click “List All Sites”. A location page will appear. You can also use a tab for each city and state or a page for all locations.

Create an Internal Linking Profile. On the website, click “Listing” and select “profile”. Under “ettings”, click “Internal Linking”. In the section marked “Identify a URL”, type the desired URL address. Make sure that you enter a semi-colon between the two quoted parts. For example, if you’re targeting the term “home care in Chicago” you would type “home careinchicago” instead of just “chicago” and the semi-colon is important in specifying the exact keyword that should be linked to.

Use Local SEO keywords. On your “gender” page, type the desired gender (for now, we’re focusing on “male” since there’s no “female” section). Now, for the location, enter the following keywords: city (first word is the city name), state, Zip Code, Metro, County, and Country. When the results are displayed, evaluate them to see which of the keywords make sense for your local seo campaign. Use the same strategy when you optimize the title, description and images.

Implement a New Year’s Resolution. The keyword and image optimization strategies for your local SEO campaign will have a significant impact on search results for the new year. Since most search engines will display the new year in bold and large fonts, try to use the keywords and images that are most appropriate for digital marketing. For example, for the new year, you might want to consider using “bleeding heart,” “new year,” “digital marketing,” “year,” “in,” “over,” and any other relevant keywords. These can be combined in creative ways that will appeal to your target audience.

Evaluate rankings. Search engine rankings are important for all online marketing efforts but especially when it comes to local SEO. Perform an analysis of your rankings to see where you are now and what your long-term goals are. If your current rankings aren’t where you want them to be, work to improve them. Your long-term goal with local seo should be to get higher rankings and greater visibility so you’ll be seen by the right people and your goal will become easier to achieve.

Optimize for user behavior. As mentioned before, local SEO works because of user behavior. When people are searching for something in a particular city, it makes sense for them to type in some specific words to find what they need. Use these words in on-page and off-page SEO to target keywords related to your business. This will increase your chances of making a sale.
